Skydiving in Queenstown, with its incredible scenery, is one of the most spectacular activities you can enjoy in the adventure capital! NZONE was New Zealand’s first tandem skydiving company in 1990 and now with over 300,000 jumps completed they are certainly the most experienced!
The thrill of jumping out of a plane at 15,000 ft is not to be under estimated. It is likely to be a total sensory overload, so its nice to know you’ve in the safe hands of a highly experienced professional skydiver or tandem jump master, backed by a team of professional parachute packers. All NZONE’s tandem masters have completed over 1,000 jumps. Safety is top priority at NZONE Skydive, who use class leading systems and the latest internationally recognised safety practices. They operate under the strict authority of the NZ Civil Aviation Authority and also the New Zealand Parachute Industry Association, and all chutes are fitted with reserves and automatic activation devices.
If a tandem skydive is on your bucket list, there’s no better place to do it than in Queenstown. Did we say the scenery was stunning? The 15-minute flight to the jump spot will leave you breathless even before you begin your jump. So, imagine what it is like by the time you are looking at it with a bird’s eye view from your parachute.
You have the choice of three jump altitudes, with varying time spent free falling! From 15,000-feet you’ll be free falling for up to an exhilarating 60-seconds at a maximum speed of over 120-MPH. From 12,000-feet, you will have up to 45-seconds of freefall and from 9,000-feet it is 25 seconds. But really, why would you go for anything less than 15,000-feet? Once you’re in the plane, you may as well go for the full distance – after all, you might only do this once so you’ll want to maximise it!
NZONE fly in the Cesssna Grand Caravan airplanes, also known as the Supervan 900. These aircraft are perfect for skydiving as they are very quiet and efficient. However, their main advantage is that they can take up to nine tandem skydivers, so if you’re planning to jump with friends or family and want to keep the whole group together, NZONE can certainly do this for you.
NZONE Skydive have a booking office and shop in the centre of Queenstown on Shotover Street, and from there you’ll need to allow a 3-4 hours round trip to get out to the NZONE dropzone. Here you will find the Discovery Zone where you will be able to gain an insight into how the parachutes are packed and how the equipment involved including the freefall camera system works.

There is no maximum age to jump and NZONE have helped people up to 94 years of age to enjoy the thrill of a tandem skydive! There are some limitations on children, such as under 18s needing parental consent, children under 12 jumping from a maximum height of 9,000 ft, and ensuring the fit of the harness.
