Damian White is Passionate About Cars and Great Customer Service


Meet Damian White, owner/operator of Pegasus Taupo and more recently Pegasus Rotorua, where he officially opened an office on 1 October 2019.

Damian grew up in Levin, about an hour’s drive north of Wellington. He became a mechanic after leaving school, which he enjoyed for 11 years before moving into the car rental industry. This is where Damian discovered his passion for cars and providing great customer service.

In June 2018, Damian decided to take the plunge and purchase Pegasus Rental Cars Taupo. For Damian it’s the old story of loving what you do so you never have to do a day’s work in your life. The team at Pegasus Taupo is completed with Ange in Administration, who has a car rental and farming background, along with Karam, who grooms the vehicles. The new Rotorua office is staffed by Kelly, who has four years experience in the rental car industry. She is a bubbly, friendly and professional addition to the team.

Together they have worked to increase the profile of the business. Particularly with Damian’s mission to get Pegasus more involved with the community by building relationships with local schools, clubs and community groups. Pegasus Taupo is now known as the place to go to hire people movers and vans for group trips.

The office has had a complete make-over and at Christmas time, the team go all out to decorate the inside and out. The fleet has also been also re-vamped and Damian introduced scooter hire to the mix – proving very popular in the summer.

You might see him driving around in his Prius – this might be the next fleet revamp to introduce hybrids and electric cars to the rental mix if the demand is there.

Damian and his team pride themselves on providing the best customer service experience possible and judge their success on the high level of repeat business they receive and business from customers of other car rental companies.

One example was when a customer told them that he had switched to Pegasus as the customer service of a competitor had been disappointing. The man hired a small car and, upon his return, made sure he let the team know how much he loved their service. It transpired that this customer was the CEO of a very large, international company with offices all around the world, who obviously recognised fantastic service!
