Speights Brewery Tour
Located on the same site since 1876 the Speight's Brewery is under 5 minutes walk from the Octagon, the centre of Dunedin. The Speight's Brewery Tour is a must for any vistor to Dunedin. The tour takes approximately 1.5 hours (including tasting and appreciation).
On arrival at the Speight's Brewery Tour you'll take a step back in time on to the cobblestone streets, as you become a part of Speight's history which dates back to 1876.
Enjoy a one-hour tour, starting with the antiquity of beer from Babylonian times, the development of beer in New Zealand, and of course, the story of the origins of Speight's Brewery. You'll see entertaining audiovisual displays, and hands on interactive displays that will appeal to young and old alike.
From there you're off around the working brewery giving you the opportunity to see, smell, touch and taste the ingredients that make Speight's "The Pride of the South".
No tour would be complete without a visit to the Brewery Bar to sample all 3 beers, Speight's Gold Medal Ale, Speight's Distinction Ale, and Speight's Old Dark. There is also plenty of great Speight's beer gear available to purchase with some lines to the Speight's Heritage Centre - perfect for collectors.
Dunedin Chinese Gardens
The Dunedin Chinese Garden is an example of a late Ming, early Ching Dynasty Scholar's Garden, surrounded by a four metre perimeter wall. The Scholar's Garden was traditionally the focal point of a family compound, which sometimes gathered several hundred family members and servants into a kind of 'gated' community.
It was in the Scholar's Garden part of the compound where guests and important visitors were received and entertained, and where the Scholar himself (a highly regarded member of Chinese society) lived and worked. A Chinese Garden is more than just a garden in the European sense. The rocks, water plants and buildings are important, symbolic, elements.
The Dunedin Chinese Garden uses authentic Chinese materials crafted by a team of artisans/craftsmen for Dunedin's sister city of Shanghai. In addition to the hand-made wooden buildings, the Garden features hand-made tiles, bricks and lattice-work and hand-finished granite paving stones.

"We had a wonderful Pegasus experience. My girlfriend recommended you as she had already made a booking with you directly. We arrived on the Sun Princess and were met at the dock and returned the vehicle to the dock also. From my first phone call I felt welcomed and nothing was a problem, Your rate for the day hire was very reasonable. Thank you for a wonderful experience and easy transaction on the day."
